WHAT WE DO

Calderdale Food Network is inclusive and seeks to represent and support the communities, businesses, organisations and activists within the local food landscape. Members include individuals, groups and organisations interested in creating a healthy sustainable and equitable food system, who bring experience and expertise to achieve outcomes and tackle key issues. Strong cross-sector working relationships and representation on the steering group enable a collaborative approach to delivering an action plan which reflects the priorities of the region in relation to food, defined by the following six key issues:

  • Food governance and strategy

  • Building a good food movement

  • Healthy food for all

  • Sustainable food economy

  • Catering and procurement

  • Food for the planet

As a central point of contact for groups and organisations tackling issues around food, we provide support to help initiatives get started, upscale projects, and connect groups and resources to create lasting positive change. We help inform decision-makers, encourage active participation and empower people and communities to work together to make good food a defining characteristic of Calderdale.

We are developing a Food Strategy for Calderdale, in partnership with the CMBC Public Health, which will underpin policy and promote action to support the establishment of a sustainable regional food system.
