The Back To Our Roots project has been created to celebrate the variety of food cultures that exist within Calderdale. The project aims to shine a light on the heritage of our food culture through an honouring of food stories and recipes contributed by a diverse range of ethnicities compiled within a recipe book.

Food represents an integral part of our identity and is a reminder of home so through the recipe book, our mission is to showcase the importance of food in each of our cultures – giving people the opportunity to reconnect with their favourite food memories and recipes, and to inspire others to do the same.

Back To Our Roots will also provide the chance for communities to come together to cook and share food amongst their community. The project has a long term aim to improve access to ingredients by working with local growing projects to cultivate vegetables commonly occurring in the global recipes, aligning with Calderdale Food Network’s vision to establish a culture where healthy affordable sustainable local food is accessible to everybody in Calderdale.

We would love to hear your food stories and share your favourite recipes- please use the link below to contribute and become part of this celebration of our local food culture.
